Amelia had her first winter camping experience! Jamie fashioned a harness and kitted her chariot out with skies so we could start venturing into the wild Canadian winters. We loaded Jamie up with all our gear and he snowshoed her in like a little princess and her work horse.

Sarah, Malcolm, Rebecca, Andrea and I skied into Lusk Cabin, which we all kept cozy in with a wood stove and tightly packed bunk beds. The boys quickly busied themselves by cutting a water hole in the frozen lake and the ladies made a tasty mushroom risotto to be savoured after their day of skiing to the Lusk Caves.

Amelia learned all about winter camping...how to use an axe to make a water hole, why black diamond ski routes should be avoided if your cross country skiing techniques are rusty, the new smell of warming boots and stinky socks by a wood stove, understanding why some people should avoid cheese fondue when sleeping in close quarters and how to feed chickadees by putting pancake crumbs on your head!
