Our new addition to the family!

Welcome: Georgia Baynes! She was in a hurry to join us on March 3, 2011, and after a fast and furious birthing experience, Daddy had his first hold of our 7lb 6oz little girl.
By midnight we were back at home in bed...feeling a little dazed but euphoric!
The next morning, Amelia was eager to meet her baby sister and have her first hold.
The three ladies spent some time snuggling while Jamie was in charge of meals and diaper changes!

Life for Daddy Baynes = BUSY!

Jamie has not lost his knack at soothing and changing newborns. He is also juggling full time work, being home for meal and bath times and biking home from work at full speed when Corinne calls for "back up".
Big hands doing some gentle work...
Daddy enjoying his two girls at story time.

Life for Mommy Baynes:

The first three days Corinne was cocooned up in bed with baby Georgia. Lots of sleep, skin to skin and feeding a very hungry little one.
She spent many of those hours just watching baby Georgia's little movements and listening to her squeaks.
After the honeymoon period...reality hit. Amelia come down with a nasty cold and passed it onto her little sister. It's not fun being one week old and congested!

Georgia's two weeks old now and everyone's health is improving; sleep is not such a limiting factor and Corinne is thinking she just might be getting a handle on how to survive the day with a newborn and a toddler. It has been done before and we even know of some people who kept adding to the chaos and decided to have 7 or 8 kids - holy smokes!

Life for Amelia:
Amelia's first reaction was of delight and "let's spread the news!". She starts almost all conversations with friends or strangers with "I'm a big sister" and she starts the day with "let's check the baby" and giving everyone kisses.
Amelia's favorite job is to help change her sister's diaper and we are hoping she can take over soon.
Amelia's other job is to open any gifts that arrive for the new baby. It was very hard to convince her that the 3-6month old polka dot dress was not for her. Although she mentioned it was a little tight in the armpits, she felt it made a perfectly good and fashionable mini skirt.
She does have a few complaints about the new baby cramping her previous only child status. Firstly, baby sleeps too much! (It's hard to keep little Miss Pokey Fingers away from the baby). Secondly, it should be noted that all two year olds want what they want when they want it!

Amelia's probably tired of hearing "baby's sleeping", "baby needs feeding" and "be gentle". However, she is taking all the new changes in her stride and she makes a wonderful big sister!

Life for Georgia:
Sleeping, feeding and growing well. Her chubby cheeks are already nice round and rosy...

and she has made us a happy family of four!

P.S. Thank you for all the messages and support in welcoming Georgia Ruby Baynes into the world.
